Lesson focus: to know that Jesus is always with us.
Jesus who had died was now alive! The sad disciples became glad, those who had been crying, were now joyful! After He rose, He spent 40 days with His disciples, taught them, gave them food. He even let them touch His new body. Many people saw Him alive with their own eyes.
Jesus told the disciples, they had to tell others about Him and about His kingdom and told them that He was going to heaven.
Why did Jesus need to leave? Why He left His disciples on this earth? Jesus had completed what He needed to do on this earth. God, The Father sent Him here to fulfill His will to be crucified –as the Savior – so those who believe in Him will be saved!
By going back to heaven, also showed that Jesus was not from this world, He came from The Father in heaven!
Then, what would He do after going back to heaven? He and the Father would send the Holy Spirit to His disciples and to us! The Holy Spirit is a special gift that will always stay with His people. We will never be alone!
In John 14:2 – Jesus said, He is going to His Father’s house to prepare a place for us, too.
After Jesus stopped teaching His disciples, His feet went off the ground. Jesus went up in the white clouds. His disciples looked up and watched as Jesus went up to heaven.
Suddenly, two angels appeared and said “Why do look up into the sky? Jesus, who went up to heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven. But in His second coming, He will come in glory, as a Judge, and He will bring us back to His Father’s house.
Jesus sent Holy Spirit to be with those who trust and love Him. Jesus is with us today. Jesus will be with His people always.
Lessons learned:
• Jesus went to heaven.
• Angels said,” Jesus will come back again.”
• The Holy Spirit was sent to help the disciples and us – to tell others about Jesus.
• The Holy Spirit will always be with those who trust and love Jesus.
