From the Bible lesson today, we learn the following:
1) God is faithful to his promises. Now the time has come for God to send the promised Savior into this world.
2) Through the angel Gabriel, God told Mary that the Holy Spirit will come upon her, she will conceive and give birth to a son, who will be called Jesus, which means the Savior or the Messiah.
3) Mary believed the angel’s message about Jesus, that she will bear in her womb the Son of the Most High and she praised God.
4) The Bible also calls Jesus Immanuel, which means God with us. In the Gospel of John, he is called the Word. Jesus is the name above all names (Philippians 2:9-11)
5) This Christmas, what is my response to the name of Jesus? Is it just something that I hear every week? Or do I want to welcome Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior?
