About 6 months later after visited Zechariah, Angel Gabriel returned once more to Mary, an ordinary girl from humble Nazareth. Mary had found favor with God and she would have a baby son, Jesus, which means “the Lord saves.” Jesus would be the promised Redeemer, bringing deliverance from sin, death and Satan. He would inherit the throne of David and reign over a kingdom without end.
When Mary visited her relative Elizabeth, the Holy Spirit enabled the older woman to recognize and affirm Mary's faith and confidence in God. “Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!” Elizabeth cried. (Luke 1:45). Then Mary celebrated God’s faithfulness to her and to his people, his care for the poor and lowly, his mercy on those who worship and serve him.
Unlike Zechariah, Mary was blessed by her faith / trust in the Lord, her recognition of the Lord's sovereignty in her life.
